Polish - Israeli meeting of youth in Stutthof Museum

On 13th of April, the first Polish - Israeli meeting of youth was held. The originators and organisers of this event was the former prisoner of KL Stutthof - Mr Chaim Kozienicki, now living in Israel, and Mr Marcin Owsiński - Stutthof Museum's education section worker. Upper classes peoples from the High School under the name of Memory of Stutthof Victims actively participated in the meeting from the Polish side. Polish youth took part in the meeting as the part of school celebrations of the Day of Holocaust Remembrance and Nations Martyrdom.
The meeting was the opportunity, unique in its kind, to learn more about the history of Holocaust of Jew prisoners in the Stutthof Camp. It was even more striking, because the history was told from the personal view of Mr Chaim Kozienicki, who came to KL Stutthof in September, 1944, in transport from KL Auschwitz.
But telling about the past was not the only purpose of the meeting. An important event was the presentation of both countries, telling about the tradition and the present day and exchange of addresses and memorabilia. KL Stutthof victims were commemorated by collective march to the Monument of Fight and Martyrdom, where national anthems were sang, candles lit and flowers laid.
